Welcome to Thursday August 14th.  We again traversed route 90 from the Badlands arriving at Mt. Rushmore on Monday afternoon the 12th.  We are still 2 hours ahead of back home and will be until we begin our return trip sometime in September. Warm and muggy here at Mt. Rushmore so something like home.  We have not seen any true rain in many days.  We arrived here at Mt. Rushmore on Tuesday, had some problems getting the landing gear deployed. Boy did that put Bob in a grand old mood. Had to call Forest River support, while waiting on a return call, Bob played with the wiring and miraculously the landing gear deployed and leveled the trailer.  Didn't do much more other than out to dinner to celebrate Judi's birthday.

Yesterday we visited the Gutzon Borglum museum dedicated to the achievements of the sculptor.  Borglum at age 60 began the feat of carving Mt. Rushmore. It took about 14 years to complete with the final unveiling performed by Lincoln Borglum the son of the famous sculptor.  Unfortunately, Gutzon passed before completion.

Here are views of Mt. Rushmore, again pictures do not do justice to the exhibit:

Walking in where all states, flags and the date they entered union. Included are U.S.A. possessions and protectorates like Guam, Panama Canal area, Puerto Rico and so on.

Got her when not expecting.

Evening ceremonies include lighting up the 'boys'.

Another appropriate location for the good ole bucket list.

Just hanging out for awhile today, maybe visit to Custer's park or Crazy Horse.

  1. I find it hilarious that my dad's mood is often commented upon......and no one elses mood is worthy of comment. Loving the pictures!
